BusyTime
Privacy Policy
Effective date:
MintSoft ("we", "us") makes BusyTime, an Android focus timer that declines incoming calls during a session you start and texts the caller a reply you wrote. BusyTime has no account and no BusyTime server: your call log, contacts, messages and templates stay on your phone. This policy explains what the app accesses, why, what leaves your device through the third-party services we use, and the choices you have.
-
Summary
- No sign-up, no account and no BusyTime server. We do not collect your name, phone number, contacts, calendar, call history or messages.
- Everything BusyTime needs to work is processed and stored on your device only.
- BusyTime is not a default phone app or a default SMS app. It never reads your messages and never places calls.
- Data leaves your device only through Google AdMob (ads in the free version), RevenueCat (Pro purchase) and Sentry (anonymous crash reports), as described below.
- We do not sell or share your personal information for money.
-
Information stored only on your device
The following is created by you or by the app while you use it, is stored in the app's private storage on your phone, and is never uploaded to us or to anyone else:
- Timer settings, presets, routines and your last session settings.
- Reply templates you write or pick, including the variables you insert (end time, minutes left, callback time).
- Your emergency contacts list (numbers that always ring) and your no-reply list (numbers that are declined without a text).
- The Timer log: for each call declined during a session, the caller's number, the time and whether a reply was sent. The Timer log is deleted automatically after 30 days, and you can turn off "Record blocked calls" or clear the log in Settings at any time.
- Session summaries and focus statistics (focus time, sessions, streaks, calls blocked).
- App preferences such as theme, language and whether you have seen onboarding.
Uninstalling BusyTime or clearing its storage in Android settings deletes all of this data.
-
Permissions and how each one is used
BusyTime asks for each permission only when the feature that needs it is used, and you can refuse or revoke any of them in Android settings. Without a permission, only the feature that depends on it stops working.
- Call Screening role ("Caller ID & spam app"): granted by you through the standard Android role dialog. Used only while a focus session you started is active, to decline incoming calls. When no session is running, every call is allowed. Call decisions are made on your device. BusyTime does not place, record, listen to or manage calls and is not a dialer.
- Send SMS (SEND_SMS): used only to send one reply, written or chosen by you, to a caller BusyTime has just declined, and only if you selected a reply template and the number is not on your no-reply list. The message is sent from your own number through your carrier, so your usual SMS rates may apply. BusyTime does not read, receive or list SMS messages and is not a default SMS app.
- Contacts (READ_CONTACTS): used on your device only. (1) When you pick someone from your contacts for the emergency contacts list or the no-reply list; you can also type a number without this permission. (2) During a session, and only for features you turned on: when you choose "Unknown only" as the calls to decline, BusyTime checks on your device whether the incoming number is saved in your contacts so that saved contacts ring through and only unknown numbers are declined; Reply by caller uses the same on-device check to pick the right message for emergency contacts, contacts and unknown numbers; and the callback reminder shows caller names. Your contacts are never modified, copied beyond the entries you add, or uploaded.
- Calendar (READ_CALENDAR, optional): requested only when you turn on Calendar prompts (a Pro option). BusyTime reads only the start and end times of events marked as busy, on your device, to show a reminder when such an event begins. If you also turn on "Start automatically" (off by default), a session starts when the busy event begins and ends when it ends, using your last session settings. Event titles, attendees, locations and notes are not used, and events are never modified, copied or uploaded.
- Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS): to show the ongoing session notification with a countdown and Stop button, the end-of-session notice, routine and calendar reminders and callback reminders.
- Foreground service: keeps a session you started (or a calendar session you scheduled with automatic start) running so calls can be declined until the timer ends. It stops when the timer ends or you tap Stop.
- Exact alarms (SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM / USE_EXACT_ALARM): to end a session at exactly the time you chose and to show routine and calendar reminders on time.
- Run at startup (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED): to restore an active session and its end time after your phone restarts or the app is updated.
- Internet: used only by the advertising, purchase and crash-reporting services described below. BusyTime itself sends nothing about your calls, contacts, calendar or messages over the network.
When you tap "Call" or "Message" next to a caller in the Timer log or session summary, BusyTime opens your default phone or messaging app with that number. BusyTime itself does not make the call or send that message.
-

- It does not read your system call history.
- It does not write to or change your contacts or calendar.
- It does not record or listen to calls.
- It does not upload your call log, contacts, calendar events, templates or messages, and it has no server to upload them to.
- It does not use your data to build a profile of you.

Third-party services
BusyTime uses the following services. Each one processes data under its own privacy policy. None of them receives your call log, contacts, calendar, templates or messages.

Advertising and your consent
The free version shows ads from Google AdMob. Where the law requires consent, such as in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, BusyTime shows Google's consent form before personalised ads are used, and you can change your choice at any time in Settings under "Ad privacy choices". You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in Android settings (Settings › Privacy › Ads, or Settings › Google › Ads, depending on your phone). Buying Pro removes ads.
-
Purchases
BusyTime Pro is a one-time in-app purchase through Google Play. Payment is handled by Google; we receive only confirmation that the purchase is valid, through RevenueCat, so the app can unlock Pro and you can restore it with "Restore purchase".
-
Legal bases (EEA, UK and Switzerland)
On-device processing that makes the app work is done to provide the service you asked for. Personalised advertising is based on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. Crash reporting, fraud prevention and purchase verification are based on our legitimate interest in keeping the app reliable and secure. Purchase records are processed to perform the contract and meet legal obligations.
-
Retention and deletion
- On-device data: kept until you delete it, clear the app's storage or uninstall the app. Timer log entries are deleted automatically after 30 days.
- Crash reports: kept by Sentry for a limited period under its retention policy, then deleted.
- Ad and purchase data: kept by Google and RevenueCat under their own retention policies. Purchase records may be kept as long as tax and accounting law requires.
- Support emails: kept only as long as needed to answer you, then deleted.
-
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, the UK GDPR, the Korean Personal Information Protection Act or California law), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or move your personal information, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent. Because we do not hold your on-device data, you can exercise most of these rights directly in the app or by uninstalling it. For anything else, email app@mint-soft.com and we will reply within 30 days. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
-
International transfers
The services listed above may process data in the United States and other countries. They rely on safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where applicable.
-
Security
On-device data is kept in the app's private storage, which other apps cannot read. Data sent to the services above travels over encrypted connections (TLS). No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we keep the data that leaves your phone to the minimum described here.
-
Children
BusyTime is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
-
Changes to this policy
If we change how BusyTime handles data, we will update this page and its effective date, and tell you in the app or in the Google Play release notes when the change is significant.
